April, 2007 EfM Mentor Training
Meet the group of Mentors who received training from April 12 through 14 this year. We met at the St. Francis Springs Prayer Center in Stoneville, NC.
All convened recently at the St. Francis Springs Prayer Center in Stoneville, NC from April 12 through 14 for Education for Ministry (EfM) Mentor training.
EfM is a program of theological education-at-a-distance of the School of Theology of the University of the South. Students sign up one year at a time for this four-year program. It covers the basics of a theological education in the Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy, and theology. Students meet regularly, usually once a week, in seminars under the guidance of trained mentors. The program grants a certificate at the completion of the four years and 18 Continuing Education Units for each year's work. More detailed information about the curriculum is available through the University of the South's website.
As a reminder, all active Mentors must receive training every 12 to 18 months in order to maintain certification and to support one's ministry as a mentor. The next mentor training in our diocese is scheduled for October 4-6 at the same location in SToneville. Contact Shelley Kappauf to register via e-mail, or call her at 336-273-5770.
