School of Ministry Programs for 2008 - 2009
The School of Ministry will offer a series of strong programs this coming year, as well as providing continued support for parish resources in print and on DVDs.

  2008 - 2009 Program of the School of Ministry

 

September 6 - Traces of our Trade:  A Program on Slavery in the Church, a gathering at St. Matthew's Church in Hillsborough to discuss this distinguished documentary.  This will be following by conversations examining our own histories, with practical guidance for conducting parish research.  The day will conclude with an address by Bishop Curry.  This initiative is coordinated between The School of Minstry and the Anti Racism Committee, as well as the diocesan Historiographer.  Download the registration form here.

September 25 - 27 - Education for Ministry mentor training, at St. Francis Springs Prayer Center. Training is provided by the diocese for EfM mentors to satisfy the required updating every 12 to 18 months.

October -- A Faciltators' Workshop for the School of Minstry's DVD series, our newest parish resources.  Watch for date and location to be announced.

 January 22, 2009 - Reflections on the Lambeth Conference,  This will be a pre-convention program with the Swindell Committee.

January 21 - 23 - Trinity Institute - Radical abundance: A theology of sustainability,  tenetively planned for delayed webcasts as this conference coincides with our diocesan convention. 

March 7, 2009 - Annual Wardens' Retreat. More information to be announced.  Save the date.

March 21, June 6 and Sept. 26, 2009 - Liturgy and music workshops (with the diocesan Liturgical Commission)

April 29 - May 1, 2009 - SpringTide: A Retreat on the Sermon on the Mount,  Bishop Michael Curry will lead outr second retreat at Trinity Center at Salter Path .  His theme, The Sermon of the Mount, was the subject of his sbbatical work recently.  Join us, and note that we will fill up our registrations quickly!

May 7 - 9, 2009 -  Education for Ministry mentor training, at St. Francis Springs Prayer Center.

Conversations about the Kingdom of God

How do we understand Jesus' many comments about the Kingdom of God?  We have variously interpreted Jesus' teachings as talking about the end of time or the transformation of the world, the "in-breaking" of the Kingdom.
